Description
Mount Huayna Potosí (Young Mountain in native Aymara language) is one of the most accessible mountains of all the Cordillera Real. Located short 25 km. from La Paz, how not to feel tempted to attempt the ascent?

The classic route does not present particular technical difficulties. A good physical condition combined with a good acclimatization to altitude are enough to highly increase possibilities to reach the summit.

This Mount is one of the preferred snowcapped mountains by mountaineers for its ascent features and snowcapped massifs (its highest summit is know as Pico Norte), besides being a place with great visual beauty.

In winter, snow and ice could be seen even at 4.700 m.a.s.l. On the slopes of the mountain, lagoons of unique colors are formed, surrounded by rocks from the Tertiary period and covered by mist.

There is sparse vegetation in the zone (Andean grass and moss) and some majestic birds, such as condors, hawks and local birds known as Avemaría.
